Growing families need growing spaces, and that’s exactly what brought a young family on 74th Place NE to Gold Remodeling’s door. With two children under five and another on the way, their cozy Medina home was bursting at the seams. The dated galley kitchen made meal prep a daily challenge, the single bathroom created morning bottlenecks, and they desperately needed a playroom where toys wouldn’t take over the living room.

During our initial consultation, we listened as they described not just what they needed, but how they wanted to feel in their home—less stressed, more organized, and with spaces that could adapt as their kids grew. Our design team immediately saw opportunities: a kitchen expansion, a second bathroom addition, and a basement transformation that would give their children room to play while keeping the main floor serene.

The 74th Place NE project became one of our favorite success stories. We expanded the kitchen into an adjoining room, creating an L-shaped layout with a peninsula that offered both prep space and casual seating for little ones. Custom soft-close cabinets went all the way to the ceiling, maximizing storage for everything from snacks to serving platters. We added a full bathroom on the main floor with a bathtub, perfect for bath time, then turned their unfinished basement into a bright, inviting playroom complete with built-in cubbies and washable flooring.

Our licensed contractors handled all the permits and structural work, while keeping disruption to a minimum—no small feat with a household full of young children. Six months after breaking ground, this Medina family had a home that finally worked as hard as they did, with room to grow and memories to make for years to come.
